Acupuncture is a process and therefore you should plan to come for a series of treatments.
It is suggested to come twice a week at the start of treatments. If you cannot come twice per week, do not space the treatments out to more than once per week. Treatments build off of each other. Once you are feeling well through a week, we will start to space your appointments out to once every 10 days or two weeks. Appointments continue to be spaced out according to how you are feeling in the time between your appointments.
Acupuncture treatments build off of each other. You may experience some relief after the first treatment, and you might not. You are most likely to experience some kind of positive change in symptoms by the third treatment. For conditions that are very severe or chronic, the treatment process usually takes longer.
I find that how quickly acupuncture works depends on how severe or chronic your condition is, how healthy you are in general and if you are able to identify and avoid, or change, the circumstances that make your condition worse during the treatment process.
Wear loose fitting clothing to your first appointment and don't arrive hungry - allow your body some energy to work with during your treatments.
Call your insurance carrier. Before booking your appointment please check with your insurance carrier as to what your benefits are. The phone number is on the back of your insurance card. Each plan varies greatly. Online verifications and information is not always accurate.
Always call! There have been more than a few instances of misquoted benefits from online or internet resources through the insurance company.
